He is named after the Smurfs color following the events which happened during the film. Grace Winslow decided on his name officially and Patrick agreed to it. Four other photos of him are included in the credits: one being him with his mother in the hospital; the second one was him and Patrick; the third one was Grace and Patrick with Grace laughing at him; and the last one was Blue laying in his hospital baby bed and Patrick was behind it with a note saying, "Hello, I am a boy, my name is Blue". Blue appears in The Smurfs 2 as a four-year old (played by Jacob Tremblay) who is being watched over by his parents and by Patrick's stepfather Victor Doyle, whom Blue affectionately calls "the Vicster".
