  • The Jack Pine, the westernmost population of P. banksiana, was historically found throughout all of Truth Island and southern Asian Island (the area where Sofasi is now found). The Asian Island trees were all cut down during the Gold Rush in the 19th century, the last surviving example lasting until 1902-03. The Trees in Truth Island began to recede in spread, being cut down from the 1940s, but local conservation efforts from the late 1970s and the creation of the Truth Island State Forest in the 1990s, plus the fact it is a symbol of Lovia, have led to better protection and a slow increase in its population figures. Despite this, it is listed as a vulnerable flora by the Wikinational Conservation Organization due to a difficulty of significant population increases.
