  • Ciniriel Vesal, known before she discovered her true identity as Ciniriel Fenaran was an Imperial Cipher Agent, code-named Cipher Three before she defected to the Republic. One of the best snipers the galaxy had ever seen, Ciniriel was incredibly protective of her beliefs and ideals, and was also known to have a good heart despite growing up on Dromund Kaas. Born on the war-torn planet of Balmorra to a mother she never remembered, Ciniriel was barely older than one when she was sent to an orphanage in a small town on Balmorra beside her weeks-old brother. From the orphanage, Ciniriel was adopted by two Imperials, who had gone to Balmorra with the hopes of rescuing orphans from the war. However, they decided to only take Ciniriel, so whilst she travelled to Dromund Kaas to live a more prosperous childhood, her brother remained on Balmorra as a child. Growing up as an upper-class citizen on Dromund Kaas, Ciniriel grew fascinated by Imperial Intelligence when she was young, and enrolled in their Cadet branch when she was eight. Eventually, when she was fourteen, Ciniriel ascended from Cadet to Intelligence Recruit, and was whisked away into the Imperial Academy on Dromund Kaas. However, Ciniriel was then forced to seperate from her adoptive parents, who she believed were her biological parents, who never told her the truth about her heritage. Upon becoming a Recruit, Ciniriel met and befriended a Chiss girl called Marsa, who Ciniriel had protected from a group of bullies near Intelligence HQ in Kaas City. For the next five years, Ciniriel endured the specialist training of Imperial Intelligence, with the hopes of becoming a Cipher Agent, the main field agents of the Empire. Over time, Ciniriel became attracted to Marsa, a relationship forbidden through Imperial law due to Marsa being an alien, and also being a fellow Recruit. During a specialist survival course on the swamp planet of Taris, Marsa ended up admitting her love for Ciniriel, who returned the admission with a kiss. The pair kept their relationship a secret, and continued their training. Eventually, when Ciniriel turned 19, she became an official Agent, designated Cipher Three, whilst Marsa became a Watcher Agent, designated Watcher Four. Ciniriel soon gained a reputation in the Empire for both her youth and her skill. Often misjudged due to her young age and simply for being a woman, Ciniriel surprised many people, even Sith, mostly due to her first assignment. Sent to Nar Shaddaa to find and eliminate the leader of a resistance cell, the planet soon fell into civil war after it turned out the resistance cell were practically a whole army. Ciniriel was tasked with leading Imperial efforts on the planet, and after a year of civil war, managed to find the leader of Blue Sceptre and end the war. Whilst this would cause her to be feared in the case of many Imperials, Ciniriel instead gained a reputation for being a kind individual, doing much to help the citizens of Nar Shaddaa who were forced to endure the war. Ciniriel went on a similar assignment into the "Undercity", the urban level beneath Kaas City, hope to alien refugees, psychotic criminals and war veterans, where she found and killed a deformed Republic veteran who had planned to destroy Kaas City and everyone with it. After that, Ciniriel became entangled with Darth Mortan, a sadistic Inquisitor who tasked the Agent with finding a Sith holocron stolen by a hostile clan of Jawas on Tatooine. Ciniriel discovered that the Jawas were waging war against the Imperials based on Tatooine, and eliminated the threat. She was then tasked with assassinating a Republic-friendly Hutt on Tatooine, but not after learning that two Republic individuals - a Jedi Knight and a gunslinger - had both stolen records from Intelligence HQ on Dromund Kaas and were now heading to Tatooine, presumably to search for Ciniriel. During this time, Marsa had gone missing. Ciniriel learned years before that Marsa had grown disillusioned by the Empire and wished to defect, a feeling Ciniriel also came to feel. When Marsa vanished, Ciniriel suspected she had gone to defect to the Republic, and decided to take her chance on Tatooine by abandoning her mission and contacting the duo chasing her. However, Intelligence intercepted her transmission, and she was captured in a cantina in Mos Espa by the Sith Lord known as Jurus, only to wake up later in the headquarters of the SIS (the Republic's Intelligence bureau) on Coruscant, under interrogation by the duo chasing her: Vidril Vesal, a Jedi Knight; and his half-brother, Salovan Vesal, who revealed that he was Ciniriel's long-lost brother. When Ciniriel denied the claims, Sal presented proof gathered from adoption records on Dromund Kaas, revealing to Ciniriel that she was adopted from Balmorra. Ciniriel then learned that Marsa, who she thought had defected, was still missing somewhere in the galaxy. The Vesal siblings elected to travel to Corellia, the place Marsa had apparently travelled to, to search for her, knowing what could be gained from her if she was in Republic hands. Upon arrival on Corellia, the siblings discovered heavy Imperial influence on the Republic world, mainly due to the work of Darth Mortan and his apprentice, Lord Balg, who were backed by Imperial Intelligence agents attempting to find Marsa. Over the course of around two weeks, the Vesals dismantled Imperial operations, managing to stop an assassination attempt on a local politician and capturing a Cipher Agent called Leeo that Ciniriel had once befriended, whilst killing a Watcher Agent working for Mortan. Eventually, the mission ended when Mortan was killed by one of Vidril's friends, the Jedi Shadow Jarn Walon, Balg was captured and Marsa was rescued by Ciniriel. Following this mission, the siblings learned that a Jedi Knight and a former lover of Salovan, Erana Ryess, had gone missing on Balmorra, now yet again a warzone, whilst chasing a group of Imperial assassins. The three siblings, now backed by Marsa, Jarn and the astromech droid T4-O6, were formed into a new team named Vesal Squad, and were tasked with rescuing Erana.
