| - A glowstone was a type of lamp designed to look like a natural stone. The devices were popular on Ryloth, where they were used to illuminate large gatherings and celebrations.
- Glowstone Blocks (formerly known as Lightstone, Brittle Gold, Brightstone, Hell's Stone or Brimstone) are golden blocks that glow indefinitely. These blocks can only be found naturally in The Nether, generating on the undersides of Netherrack, commonly near lava, and forms unusual coral-like stalactites. Glowstone emits a strong amount of light that is comparable to the light the torch makes.
- On the default Minecraft look, Glowstone Blocks are light brown block with lighter gold-brown spots. It is found hanging from the ceiling of Nether caverns, making it a bit dangerous to mine. However, with a bit of exploration, it shouldn't be too hard to find some close to the ground in a small cavern.
- A glowing stone that emits its own natural light. The SUN spell can be cast upon it to increase the brilliance of the jewel's glow. Often worn as jewellery due to their extraordinary properties.

- Glowstone is a decorative Block used for illumination, and was added in Update 0.5.0. It melts Ice and Snow near it, and drops 2-4 Glowstone Dust when broken. It spawns in Glowstone Clusters in the Nether. Glowstone Dust is used in Potions to increase the potion's strength.
