Tashni Jones was the mother of one of the three families who had made it to the finals of the competition to win the Sunshine Family of South Africa competition in Sun City in 2008, one of the others being the Battersbys. She and her husband Devon presented themselves to the judges as an example of a perfect mixed-race family with their eleven adopted sons - Clint, Lucky, Desmond, Vusi, Thabo, Ross, Andre, Elias, Christian, Brendan and Siza. They were soon disqualified when it was discovered that the children weren't theirs but had been "borrowed" for the event from a boy's football club. Deprived of the chance of winning $500,000, Tashni went into an emotional meltdown that unscrupulous host and television presenter Alfie Vlok was keen to capture on camera.
