Evans was selected 84th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. His first four pro seasons were spent in the Kings' farm system. Despite good numbers, Evans never got a chance to play for the Kings. A trade in mid-season 1977-78 to the Philadelphia Flyers gave him a second wind. He played 44 games for the Flyers and scored 6 goals and 5 assists. The next season he returned to the minors. A second chance in the NHL in 1982-83 got him 8 goals and 20 assists in 58 games with the Flyers. Evans played two more seasons of minor pro and then retired in 1985.
