The Emperor Tiberius (705 - December 711), son of Justinian II and the Empress Theodora, reigned as nominal co-emperor in the early 700s. Even at the age of five, he showed every sign of being the sort of ruler his father was, which greatly impressed Justinian (and also slightly disturbed at the potential threat at his own rule). He was murdered in 711 CE inside the church of the Mother of God by John the Ostrich, at the command of the rebels Mauros and Helias.
