The Irish Hunter is not a breed but a type. Ireland produces some of the finest horses in the world. The Irish draught horse is a strong, well-built working horse. As horses were used less in agriculture, the Irish draught was crossed with the thoroughbred to produce a riding horse. This was then bred with with Connemara horses to become the popular Irish hunter.
