When fighting in close quarters a blaster carbine is usually the preferred weapon. Blaster rifles often prove to be too bulky and hard to handle in small spaces while blaster carbines tend to be smaller and better suited for such situations. The Confederate Navy contracted Decuu Arms to design a weapon to be used during boarding operations by the Confederate Marines, based on the BR7-A3 "Vampire" Blaster Rifle. The resulting weapon was the SFC-1 "Werewolf" Blaster Carbine.

| - When fighting in close quarters a blaster carbine is usually the preferred weapon. The blaster carbine was built in a bull-pup design, with the power pack located behind the handle. The bull-pup design reduced length and made the weapon less cumbersome than the "Vampire". Like the "Vampire", all moving and/or metal parts of the "Werewolf" were fitted with a corrosion-proof, vacuum-rated, dry lubricant. The top of the receiver had a universal, quick detach sight rail, which came from the factory mounted with a medium, 4X optical scope. The "Werewolf" had a faster recycle rate than most blasters and featured an under-barrel micro-grenade launcher which stored a pair of concussion stun grenades (they could be replaced with smoke grenades). For boarding operations in starships with lighting problems, a built in flashlight could be activated by using a thumb switch that was located just above the barrel.
