| - Little Doe, known in Lakota mystic circles as Grey Skies, was an important Shaman of the Lakota tribe. She didn't advertise this role, however; to her family, she was just a more pedestrian medicine woman. When she discovered that her grandson Brandon Franks had manifested as a mutant Avatar with the spirit of the Ptesanwi, her dual roles became conflicted. As a grandmother, she helped the newly-renamed Kayda to learn about her powers by providing her with supplies and lore, and also fast-tracked Kayda's registration into the tribe. She also charged a number of Ghost Warriors with protecting the Franks and avenging the violence that Kayda had suffered. On the other hand, she manipulated behind the scenes to get Kayda to leave Whateley Academy and return to the reservation, by tasking retired Chief Dan Bear Claws with arranging a campaign of harassment at school. As a major shaman, Grey Skies was the keeper of an ancient object known as the Sacred Sphere. That was her undoing, when the second son of Unhcegila tracked her down and killed her for the Sphere.
