By 1871, it had become the de facto capital of the Dominion of Isokyria and was made the official capital by Queen Victoria. Hufo is the economic, political, and cultural center of Isokryia. Considered a global city, it is home to several domestic and foreign companies. Hufo's economy mirrors that of the nation's and is largely based on crude oil production but retains a strong tradition of fishing and other maritime industries. Hufo is known around the world as the city where the "Past meets the future" as influences of the city history fuse with the social and technological developments of the modern age. This has influenced Isokyrian art of the past decade, giving rise to the Hufo movement. Hufo is governed by a 9-member council and a mayor, who also serves as the Chairman of the Council. Elections in the city occur every three years, the most recent being in 2014. Leif Sigurdsson is the current Mayor of Hufo.
