Despite the RG name, the RG531 has the rounded-edge body style and swoopy, rounded headstock of the older Roadstar body. The RG531 features a basswood body w/ a flame maple top bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include dual Ibanez IBZ humbucking pickups with Duo-Sound coil-tap functionality and an Edge double locking tremolo bridge. The Back Stop tremolo stabilizer in combination with the Edge trem, Back Stop and Top-Lok III nut was marketed as the "Sure Bet Tuning System." The RG652 is a similar model without the flame maple top.
