His first year in Bristol came to a very early end however when he suffered a season-ending knee cartilage injury in mid September. Adam returned to action at the beginning of the 2012–13 season, but his luck didn't improve. His previous knee injury flared up again and from the end of October he spent the rest of the campaign in the treatment room. Adam has a brief international career behind him, having twice been capped by the Scottish B side, in 2004 and 2005.
