Austin is a bastion of weird in a sea of Bible Belt conservatism, which means that Changelings, Psychics and Thaumaturges find it a little easier to live here than in many other parts of the state or region. However, that doesn't translate into universal acceptance. Of the Lost, one can never know who is truly free from their old masters and who is working for them. Of the Sighted, most people view those who claim to be able to use 'psychic powers' or 'work magic' to be frauds, delusional, or members of neo-pagan religions which trigger a number of unpleasant and sometimes extreme reactions from the local Christian communities. Mostly, a psychic or thaum attempting to convince people that they have real powers will find their claims viewed with benign mockery. A too-strange Lost who is too careless with his idiosyncrasies might get lumped in with the strange 'Only in Austin...' street celebrities.
