September 17th 1970 in Villach, Austria) is a retired Austrian left winger and defenceman who spent his whole career, which spanned on 21 seasons, with his hometown club, Villacher SV. A solid skater, Kromp played 98 games for the Austrian National Team, scoring 12 goals and as many assists.   • Wolfgang Kromp (b. September 17th 1970 in Villach, Austria) is a retired Austrian left winger and defenceman who spent his whole career, which spanned on 21 seasons, with his hometown club, Villacher SV. Kromp began his pro career with VSV in 1988 with a humble 6 points (3 goals and as many assists) in 37 games. His numbers however increased much as time passed; during most of his career, Kromp averaged between 30 and 40 points per season, with a career-high in 2000-01, where he scored 32 goals and 69 points. It is a total of 333 goals that he scored in the league for Villach in his career, to which 368 assists are added for a total of 701 points in 950 games. His excellent play contributed to give Villach several titles of Austrian Champions, in 1992, 1993, 1999, 2002, 2006; actually, five of Villach's six championships happened during Kromp's career. A solid skater, Kromp played 98 games for the Austrian National Team, scoring 12 goals and as many assists. He was selected to play in four World Championships (1993, 1994, 2000, 2001) as well as in two Olympic Games, in 1994 and 2002. As with many players of his time, Kromp had to have a regular daytime job additionally to being a hockey player. Just like his longstanding teammate Günther Lanzinger, he was postman in the town of Villach. The two of them actually played over 20 seasons together in Villach and retired on the same day on May 19th 2010.
