Form V, also known as Shien or Djem So, was the fifth form of lightsaber combat used by members of the Jedi Order. Form V allowed a Jedi to deflect blaster fire back at an opponent, turning the Jedi's defense into an offensive action. The Djem So variant of Form V was also based on defending with solid blocks and parries, then immediately countering with strong counterattacks and ripostes, and was geared toward, and created for lightsaber to lightsaber combat, but also still reasonably useful for blast deflection.

The ancient style of Shien utilized an unconventional reverse grip, which Ahsoka Tano was known to prefer and use during battles.

Form V stond ook wel bekend als de Perseverance Form. De originele Form V, genaamd Shien, was beter in gevechten tegen blasters, terwijl Djem So, dat later werd ontwikkeld, een uitstekende stijl is tegen andere lightsaber-gebruikers. Waar Form III gebruikers blasterschoten gewoon blokkeerde, kaatste de Form V gebruiker deze terug naar de schutter. Djem So eiste kracht, moed en zelfvertrouwen van de gebruiker. In vele opzichten leek deze stijl op Form VII, alleen dat bij Djem So de gebruiker zich kon laten leiden door zijn emoties wat door Form VII strikt moest worden gecontroleerd. Alhoewel deze stijl door veel Jedi werd vermeden (omwille van het ietwat brutale karakter waardoor het leek dat anderen werden gedomineerd), stond de doeltreffendheid niet ter discussie.
