After running the specified distance, Wolverine automatically attacks in the direction of the opponent, so you can use Berserker Slash to cross up your opponent or hit them from the front. Berserker Slash is just too fast for human opponents to be able to consistently guard correctly on reaction. While this attack is technically unsafe if guarded, few characters can consistently punish it due to the awkward range left between the characters after it finishes. In the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Berserker Slash was completely invulnerable while Wolverine's shadow was visible. In Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, it loses the benefit.
