Udara Groundslay was a short-eared owl who had been born without the ability to fly, although this did not seem to bother him in the least. His domain consisted of Rockwood, his birthplace, and the surrounding moors. He guarded this territory with his own natural aggression, and was said to be very wise. It was to him that Jukka the Sling led Fleetscut and her tribe to find any information about young hares who might have passed the area. After bargaining with him about the price of information, Udara gave them a bark scroll that had been dropped by a band of hares passing through his territory, that contained information on the whereabouts of King Bucko Bigbones court. He then retreated to his solitary abode. He was known to take offense very easily, and slay anyone who was not courteous
