Cave fishers are monsters in ADOM. Like all spiders, cave fisher spin webs, but their attacks do not poison. They can also be summoned en masse by dark elven spellcasting monsters. Since many of them are generated by summoners and thus killed in large numbers throughout the game, swarms of high level cave fishers can be a nuisance in the late game.

  • A cave fisher was a lobster-like monster which inhabited subterranean locations and ambushed its prey using a sticky filament similar to a strand of giant spider silk.
  • A cave fisher is an unintelligent subterranean predator that catches its victims by attaching a long, sticky filament to them, which it then reels in. They generally wait on the high walls or ceilings of caverns, often near sources of water or other locations of increased traffic.

  • Dark elves enjoy eating spiders; whilst PCs of all other races vomit and become poisoned after eating them. All PCs have a high chance of gaining intrinsic poison resistance as well after eating a corpse.

  • The cave fisher is a large insect that looks like part spider, part lobster. Its body is covered with thick plates and it has eight legs. It stands on the rear six and tries to grabs its victim with the front two. It likes to lay out many webs in the dungeon, sucking the blood from those creatures who are dumb enough to get stuck in them.
