  • Present in every unclaimed area are "barbarians" or rebels, whose insolence must be ended. As formidable as they may be, barbarians have several handicaps:
  • Barbarian towns, also called NPC Towns sometimes, are sprinkled throughout the map. They are not controlled by any player, and are the closest thing to "PvE" game play that can be found in Civony.
  • Barbarians are the only units in Armies of Gielinor that can capture structures. There are three barbarians: the Barbarian, Barbarian Chieftain and Barbarian Spear Woman. The Barbarian Chieftan has 10 hp and the Barbarian has 5 hp. The Barbarian Chieftan can capture a town in one turn, while a Barbarian can capture a town in two turns.

  • The ancient Greeks considered other non-Greeks as Barbarians. They were nomadic and/or war-like savage big groups of people, who often sparred with Greece. Some well known non-Greek peoples located near ancient Greece included the Illyrians (Albania), Thracians (Bulgaria), Phrygians (Anatolia), Scythians (Black Sea area) and Persians (Middle East). This term was later adopted by the Romans to describe anybody who was non-Roman. These included the Celts (British Isles, Iberian Peninsula and France), Dacians (Romania), Carthaginians (North Africa), and the Germanic tribes (Germany and Baltic Sea area).
  • Barbarians are a type of villains that are popular in many media, whom attack the village, towns and kingdoms, killing enemies or innocent. They are warriors embracing by battle rage, lust for murder and conquest. In ancient times, most known barbarians were such as: Huns, Vikings, Germans, etc. but in fantasy, there may be Orcs, Goblins, Ogres and many other races.
  • These are some plans for future barbarian changes. Nothing is yet set in stone.
  • When Barbarians spawn, any Customers in the area will shout out "Barbarians!" and start running away to the edges of the map. Usually in groups of 1 to 5, they will spawn on either end of the path outside your shoppe and then rush towards your door. Once inside, they will quickly destroy furniture in the shop and can target any random piece, sometimes going all the way to one side of the shoppe just to rush to the other side after destroying a piece of furniture. Luckily it doesn't take more than a few sword swings, or a single well aimed spell to dispatch a Barbarian. They can be effectively killed before reaching your store out in the path if you are quick enough to get outside once your customers become alerted.
  • The barbarians were hired by Unalaq to attack the Northern Water Tribe in an attempt to draw Tonraq into a situation that would cost him the position of heir to the chiefdom. Unalaq informed them that in the event they needed a safe hideout, they could escape to the sacred spirit forest at the North Pole.
