The Oldmother is a character that appears in Might and Magic: The Shadowsmith. She was the oldest of the red-skinned people that Hitch's group met in the red-skied world, and the only woman they saw there. Everyone treated her with great respect, and the headman of the village would seek her counsel before making important decisions. She could usually be found on a low, cushioned chair behind the headman's trone. When she needed to travel, she was carried around on a litter made out of reeds, her small body swathed in hot robes and blankets.

  • The Oldmother is a character that appears in Might and Magic: The Shadowsmith. Hitch described her as a "tiny, round-bodied woman of extreme age, her brown face wrinkled like a fallen appleberry and her snowy hair wound into a sparse bun on the top of her head". Her eyes were half-closed, and her voice was "frail as a leaf's rustle in the open valley". Her great experience allowed her to be calm and collected, no matter what happened. Like the other women of her people, she was unable to lift objects with her mind, but had instead the ability to shake things. When Dubiel's army arrived with great numbers and horrible war machines, the villagers carried her through the forest and set her down near the front lines with "ceremonious solemnty". Before the shocked eyes of Hitch and his friends, she caused a great earthquake that tore down cliffs and buried their enemies. When the job was done, the headmen gently mopped her brow with a cloth while others fetched her a bowl of water. Hitch later learned that they were quite embarrassed at having to ask such a venerable person for help. When Hitch's group went back through the portal to their own world, the oldmother as there to say goodbye, sipping spicy tea while chatting to their dear visitors.
