  • They only ended when Zamorak, cornered by Saradomin, Armadyl, and Bandos in Forinthry, used the Stone of Jas as a last ditch effort to save himself. This would result in the whole of Forinthry being destroyed, scarring the land so harshly that nothing would ever grow. Meanwhile, the druids of Guthix had been attempting to end the war by waking the god of balance; four of them, Atrew, Thera, Ria and Rief, conducted a ritual that succeeded in doing so. Guthix, horrified and saddened deeply by the destruction he saw, slammed a giant blade into the middle of Forinthry (what is now known as the Wilderness Volcano) establishing the Edicts of Guthix. These edicts banished most current gods from Gielinor, and prevented new ones from coming to the planet so that nobody could destroy it further.

  • The Third Age, sometimes referred to as the Third Age of mankind is the period of galactic civilization following the departure of the last of the First Ones in 2261. The term was coined by John Sheridan following the Battle of Coriana VI and the end of the Shadow War. He characterised the first age as being the time when the races began in chaos and too primitive to make their own decisions then and the second when they were manipulated by forces that thought they knew what was best for them. The third age therefore being the time when the Younger Races could stand on their own, take responsibility for themselves and "make their own magic". The period is however recognized to have truly begun in 2257 with the founding of Babylon 5, though none knew it at the time.

  • The Third Age, also known as The God Wars, is one of the five ages of Gielinor, between the Second and Fourth Age. These God Wars would last throughout the entire Third Age, and their end was marked by the establishment of the Edicts of Guthix, which is also when the Third Age ended. • 15 standard years ago (or so) many pre-starborn civilisations within the galaxy gained access to information regarding space travel and gate technology. During the next 15 standard years most of them, through one means or another, successfully made their first explorations of their neighbouring star systems. Also during the 15 years, the member civilisations of the Galactic Senate (and many more non-member Empires) discovered this strange coincidence among the more primitive civilisations of the galaxy and began investigations into the occurrence. Releasing that sooner, rather than later, the many primitive civilisations that seemed to have suddenly gained insight into warp travel would develop it in one form or another and begin exploring and partaking in galactic affairs, the Senate began discussions of how they could accommodate such an influx of new empires into the Senate (or worse, Gate-capable Empires ignoring the Senates edicts), as it would put a great strain upon the Senate and its member factions. It was decided that tradition would be maintain and that each emergent Empire would be sent a Senate delegation explaining the Senate, its roles and laws, and inviting them to join the Senate. However, unlike common traditions, where each emergent empire would be given its own ceremony (as such things only rarely occurred), instead all of the emergent empire which agreed to join the Senate would be informed and invited to a mass ceremony to introduce them all, too each other and the Senate member empire as a whole. If the emergent empire agreed to join the Senate (the decision would need to be taken before the ceremonies date), then the Senate, as per tradition, would give the emergent empire the technology of instantaneous interstellar communication, as a gift and a means of communicating with the Senate and all of the Senate's major policies would be explained to the empire. As a mark of respect, friendship, and the inevitable changes that this new influx of factions would have on the galaxy, the Senate decided that the new year would mark the first year of the new age of the galaxy. The Ceremony of Kin-Dee-Mar, as it has been titled, is due to take place on the final day of the final year of the last age. The Ceremony is due to end at the first stroke of new year, at which point, those empires which choose to join the Senate will assume their positions as members of the Senate.

Third Age - Total War is a must have for all strategy and Lord of the Rings fans alike. A total conversion for the Medieval II Total War - Kingdoms expansion Play on an extensive historically accurate map of Middle-earth as it was in the Third Age, including 115 settlements taken straight from Middle-earth lore and completed with several fictional locations. Visit the wonders of Middle-earth, like the Three Towers, the Argonath or Durin's tower and see all the unique locations of Middle-earth like Minas Tirith, the Black Gate or Isengard. Battle in the hills of Rohan, the huge forests of the Mirkwood or the dark ash of Mordor. Play with all important factions of the Third Age, including Gondor, Rohan, High and Silvan Elves, Dwarves, Eriador, Dale, Isengard, Mordor, Rhun, Harad and the Orcs of the Misty Mountains. Every faction has its own strengths and weaknesses, benefits and disadvantages on the battle as well as the campaign map. Decide if you want to face your enemy with a small, but trained and heavily armored army or if you count on masses of units to overrun your foes. The unit design is based on visual references of the Lord of the rings movie trilogy, completed with fictional units and artwork, all based on the lore of Middle-earth. 3. The Gameplay The end of the Third Age is a time where good and evil wage a decisive war for the final domination of Middle-earth. Both ways, freeing the good people of Middle earth as well as bringing the world under the shadow will not be an easy task for the player. A new campaign and battle AI will make the player's life much harder and a unit recruitment based on a cultural level and a regional recruitment requires strategically decisions and will slow down your expansion if not properly planned. The AI will also receive certain bonuses like extra money or additional armies if they get in serious trouble to compensate the lack of human intelligence and the lack of income through missions. 4. The Design In order to reflect the world of Middle-earth as good as possible, there is an almost complete rework of the 2D and 3D design, including settlements, locations, the interface, the symbols and pictures and much more. To create an even deeper atmosphere, all cultures have a unique set of music and unit sounds and voices were completely changed for many factions. Lastly there is a huge amount of new videos, including the intro, the faction intros and many in-game events. Trailer
