The Clock Tower Entrance is one of the three main entrances of Hogwarts Castle (the other two being the Viaduct Entrance and the main Entrance Hall). It consists of a large open space at the base of the Clock Tower with two stairwells going up towards the upper levels of the Tower. Opposite the main entry there is a large window. There is controversy however, as to why the window was placed there, considering if one looks at the whole structure of the Clock Tower, a building is propped right where the window is. A portrait of Damara Dodderidge was hung here and, in 1995, so was a portrait of Temeritus Shanks. The massive steel and iron pendulum of the Clock Mechanism above, swings slowly over this Entrance. The pendulum seems to have an imprint of a many armed star on it, if one looks clos

The pendulum seems to have an imprint of a many armed star on it, if one looks closely at it with what appears to be runic symbols on the outer rim of the pendulum bob. The Entrance can be sealed with a portcullis (which can be lowered and raised with the aid of a lever) and the massive double doors can be locked with numerous bolts.
