New Cannes, also known as Ostus Vious a, is terranian planet located in the Outskirts within the Orion Spur of the Milky Way Galaxy. It is similar to Earth albeit a higher average temperature. Near the poles of the planet, temperature and soil content allow for sufficient amounts of agriculture. To make up for the gap, local growth such as fruit-bearing bushes and sweet cactus-like plants are grown in farms where possible.

It is similar to Earth albeit a higher average temperature. Near the poles of the planet, temperature and soil content allow for sufficient amounts of agriculture. To make up for the gap, local growth such as fruit-bearing bushes and sweet cactus-like plants are grown in farms where possible. New Cannes is known throughout the region for its seclusion. The nearest planet or asteroid belt from the pirate haven is nearly forty lightyears away, allowing for an ideal rebel planet. In 2582, a Sangheili rebel group which maintained two massive agricultural ships stationed one at New Cannes in return for allowing the group to establish a base on the planet. In 2590, the Sangheili rebels, which called themselves the Vada'kouri Union held a powerful relationship with the Insurrectionist Confederacy, which was then in a war with the UNSC. The group began supplying items easily obtainable on the many unstable Sangheili worlds such as plasma rifles, pistols, and even Ghost RAV's. In 2594, New Cannes became the sole battleground for the New Cannes War between the Tace Empire and the Insurrectionist-Vada'Kouri alliance. The two year war led to a number of stalemates, though the Tace Empire would suffer defeat after the conclusive final battle.
