However, when the votes were tallied, Cartwright lost to Tanner by 1%. Tanner than named Cartwright as his Deputy Leader. In 2679, Cartwright was reelected as Deputy Leader. In a four candidate race, she claimed 55% of the vote on the first ballot. Meanwhile, in 2680, Kristian Tanner appointed Henrietta Stone-Wicker to the Deputy Praetorship. This caused outrage within the party because Cartwright was Deputy Leader and was therefore entitled to become Deputy Praetor. On the first ballot, Cartwright led Stone-Wicker by 2.5%, but on the second ballot, she lost by 1.6% After Kristian Tanner resigned as leader of the party, Julieta Cartwright claimed the leadership winning 54% on the first ballot. She resigned on February 11, 2685, ten days after the election which saw the party lose five senate seats.
