Valis reveals that Kira Carsen was a "Child of the Emperor", which she confirms after defeating Valis. From conversation with the later boss Lord Praven, it is suggested that he is Praven's apprentice.

He does not move throughout the campaign, and only attacks when the Zamorakian troops are closeby. He is stationed on a tower unit, right next to his portal.

During the tense Cold War, he was ordered to retrieve the former Child Kira Carsen when the Emperor became aware of her continued existence. Posing as the Imperial Admiral Hacklin, Valis lured Carsen, now a Jedi Padawan, and her Master to a mining facility in the Unknown Regions, but his attempt to capture Carsen resulted in a duel that ended with his death.
- VALIS is a story of a man, named Philip (same as the author), and his journey to find God with his alter-ego, Horselover Fat. Most of the story is a narrative that disguises a set of theological ideals established by Dick. The major subject of this narrative is spirituality, as both the protagonist, his alter-ego, and the author (who are all essentially one and the same) are ostensibly obsessed with several religions and philosophies, including Christianity, Taoism, Gnosticism, and even Jungian psychoanalysis. They are searching for a cure for what he believes is simultaneously both a personal and a cosmic wound.

It is recorded that Valis fought on the side of Saradomin, leading his troupe of archers and monks against Zamorakian forces, digging his heels in at a stronghold in the Haunted Woods. It is here when he ultimately was defeated, when Zamorak's werewolves and undead troops found and attacked his forces.
