- "Nip" was a runner/spy for the Harper Hall. His real name is not certain. In Chapter 19 of The MasterHarper of Pern, Robinton calls him "Journeyman Kinsale", but that may well be an alias. He served Gennel and later Robinton, and later took on an assistant/apprentice, "Tuck".
- Assid Bakuun once observed a sul'dam talking to her damane. He likens it to him having a conversation with Nip.
- Nip is a fictional character of the anime-influenced animation, Creature Planet. He was a servant bird of the winged priestess until she had been possessed by the wind demon. He was then given the task of protecting the Energy Gauntlets until a brave warrior is worthy of claiming them.
