Triss is the oldest of the house-elves who live with the King family on their ranch at Croatoa. She once belonged to Abraham Thorn and lived with him and his second wife and their daughters, Lucilla, Drucilla, and Valeria White. When Thorn divorced White, he took his elves with him, and Triss later lamented the fact that Valeria and her sisters had been "abandoned" with "no one [to] care" for them. Alexandra Quick met the elf in November of 2009 while visiting the King's.

It was through her intervention that Ciri was not inadvertently given harmful hormones which might have negatively impacted her "womanly assets". She was a member of King Foltest's royal council along with Fercart and Keira Metz, as well as a founding member of the Lodge of Sorceresses. She is a skilled healer and carries with her many magical potions, but she never uses them on herself because she is allergic to magical elixirs and potions. She is also quite a powerful mage, certainly when it counts most.

Triss and Gavilan Elessedil were childhood friends. When Wren first meets Triss, he has been Captain of the Home Guard for almost eight years, despite being not much older than Wren. After Ellenroh enclosed Arborlon and the Elves inside the Loden, she, Wren, Triss, and others tried to escape Morrowindl and return the Elves to the Four Lands. Along with Wren, Triss was the only one of the nine-member company to survive the journey. He became Wren's fierce protector after the death of her mentor Garth and once the Elves were restored to the Westland he supported her before the High Council, who were initially distrustful of their new Queen.
