In Malay mythology, Bisan was a nature spirit which inhabited trees (most often camphor trees, but occasionally mahogany). They are said to be peaceful, but they require a tribute of some sort when the forest is harvested or utilized. They are somewhat similar to the Dryad from Greek mythology.
