The Winton modification was a genetic alteration engineered into the genome of the Winton family. Created for Roger Winton's parents, it included IQ enhancements. The retention of dark skin among all of Winton's descendants even after a dozen generations was believed by many to be linked to the modifications which were more than likely "locked", thus accounting for the effect. The modification was in fact very similar to the Meyerdahl First Wave. (HH9)
