While officially the succession of the Confederate State of Tennessee from the United States was a peaceful one, it wasn't totally free of violence. From the beginning of the succession, military and police forces of Tennessee have been engaged by pro-American domestic terrorist groups. Most of the resistance began after the United States formally agreed to allow the succession. While the majority of groups operating in Tennessee are anti-CST, they are not necessarily pro-American. The goals of the groups range from adding Tennessee back to the union, to overturning the CST government, to resisting both nation's governments. Many of the groups now opposing the CST government were originally some of the same groups that pressed the government to take action against the same-sex marriage ban
