Maverick's F-14 Tomcat fighter plane went into a jet wash. Both engines flamed out and the fighter plane went into a flat spin that was unrecoverable. The fighter plane headed out to sea. Maverick said "I'm pinned forward, Goose! I can't reach the ejection handle!" Maverick then said "Goose, you have to punch us out! I can't reach the ejection handle! Eject!" Goose said "I'm trying! I'm trying!" Maverick said "Eject! Eject! Eject! Watch the canopy!" Goose pulled the ejection handle. Maverick got out, but the canopy came down on top of Goose's neck, breaking it! Goose died!
