The Flash-4 is Merr-Sonn's first attempt at making a heavy blaster pistol to compete with the venerable BlasTech DL-44. Indeed, Merr-Sonn more or less shamelessly copied the frame, complete with the trademark rounded grip, machined metal frame, conical flash-hider, and scope-mount. This weapon is generally not up to the reliability of its BlasTech competitor, and some would go so far as to say that Merr-Sonn somehow managed to find a way to make its weapon even more ungainly and ugly in appearance. Merr-Sonn also opted for a leaner, less robust charge capacitor, and hence it has somewhat light stopping power for a heavy blaster pistol. On the other hand, it gets more shots from a magazine, and it shoots a little further.
