The V-38 Sentinel, sometimes referred to as the TIE Sentinel because of its passing similarities to other TIE designs, is a fighter known best for its short-lived TIE Phantom variant. The basic hull, engine and wing configurations are the same as those on the TIE Phantom. The weapon configuration on the V-38 Sentinel is slightly different, with its three laser cannons mounted on each wing tip instead of on the cockpit chin. The Empire decided not to order the V-38's in large quantities, citing the excessive cost and limited weapons configuration.
