Urdu-speaking West Pakistan is bordered by India to the east, by Afghanistan to the west and north, by Iran to the southwest and by Uyghurstan in the far northeast. It is separated from the Soviet Union by Afghanistan's narrow Wakhan Corridor in the north and also shares a marine border with Oman. Bengali-speaking East Pakistan is bordered by India to the north, west and east, by Burma to the south-east and by the Bay of Bengal to the south. It is separated from Nepal and Bhutan by India's narrow Siliguri Corridor in the north.
