The Essence in Light, or the Essence, is an eldritch being of Light and master of the Dwellers. It was trapped in an interdimensional prison by the gods in the dawn of time and has since then tried to break free, using the Dwellers to do its bidding. It possessed Nicodemus Fowler and led the Dweller collective to the Land of the Living through the Gate of Light in 1016 AE and has since been spreading its influence in Western Aison slowly but surely while sending various Heralds, evolved Dwellers, to distant locations to scout for more promising people to add into the Collective. The Essence in Light is diametrically opposed to its fellow primordial that is known as the Watcher in Darkness.
