The Plains Art Museum is an art museum, art education facility, and event center located at 704 First Avenue North in Fargo, North Dakota. The Plains Art Museum began as the Red River Art Center in the mid-1960s and was housed in the old Moorhead, Minnesota post office. It acquired its present name in 1975. In October 1997 the museum opened in a renovated, historically significant, turn-of-the-century warehouse that was once the home to International Harvester. The museum has served as a Second Venue location for the Fargo Film Festival.
