Magnetohydrodynamic (or, more technically correct, magnetoaerodynamic) launches is a means of better launches that ionizes the air around the craft, eliminating the air resistance and using the air as propellant instead. It will, especially on high altitudes with thin air, have to be combined with other means of propulsion such as chemical rockets and weakly manipulated spacetimes, but it certainly saves energy and makes launches cheaper.
