Malareth was an elf necromancer and alchemist met by the party during their first adventure. He stole Traveus' box and kept it in his lair, near where it was lost. When confronted by the party, he was found studying the contents of the box and sent his undead minions to attack. He cast powerful spells and bolstered his undead minion's defenses with an aura. First the party killed the huge zombie, then Meredith killed Malareth by impaling him to the wall with a well-placed crossbow bolt. Once Malareth was dead, the rest of his minions began to crumble into dust, their life forces gone, and were swiftly finished off by the party.. He was the first antagonist faced by the party but his origins are unknown. He is a member of a Cult of Orcus, Demon Lord of the undead.
