Friendship 7 was a Human spacecraft in operation in the 20th century on (and over) planet Earth. The craft was part of Project Mercury, a spaceflight program administered by NASA, an agency of the government of the United States of America. In February of the year 1962, astronaut John Glenn piloted Friendship 7 in orbit around the Earth, becoming the first American to do so. (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!")
