John Whedon (November 5, 1905 - November 21, 1991) wrote eight episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. He also wrote episodes of "Kraft Television Theater" (for which he received an Emmy Award nomination), "Leave It to Beaver", "The Donna Reed Show", "The Dick Van Dyke Show","That Girl" and the Disney feature films The Bears and I and The Island at the Top of the World. He is the father of Emmy-winning writer Tom Whedon and the grandfather of writers Jed Whedon, Zack Whedon and Oscar-nominee Joss Whedon.
