The Ghost of Time is a ghost of the old Link who was killed by the ocarina song, The Everlasting Melody. When Link played the song, he had to choose a new host for his soul, or his soul will take on the body of a Darknut. The young Link (Teen Link) fought the Darknut that Link was, and Link then revealed himself, and awarded Teen Link with the Pegasus Boots.
