Elspeth Scott is a young woman who attended medical school at the University of Edinburgh and was in the same class as Arthur Conan Doyle. She is in one of the first group of women allowed to become doctors after an Act of Parliament. She meets Arthur in class, where she and the other women are being mocked by some of the male students, who don't think women should be allowed to attend.
