Rose was out among the townspeople, the other solars obsessing about battle plans, preparations and how best to kill skeletal pirates. She smiled, war really was not her strength. When she looked at these people's eyes and how they changed when they noticed her presence, she knew what her strength was. It was an amazing thing, to see how their eyes were dull when they laboured, how they lighted up when she came near them and how hope, passion and love shone out of them when she talked, sang or just listened to them. Her strength was inspiration, making these good people believe in a better future, a future without the Burnt Man, a future without the Guild, a future with the solar exalted.
