Thus it is based on the natural, cosmic seasons on the planet Earth. 1 Albertan year is the period of time for Earth to complete its revolution on its orbit around the Sun. The Albertan year begins with the beginning of the astronomical spring in the northern hemisphere of Earth. Every 4 years, there are leap years. Then 1 day is added to the end of the Albertan calendar.
