The Clan Tokugawa is one of the six noble Gao-Showa Clans. Descended from a mainly nomadic tribe hired by the Emperor Meiji XII in his war against the Kazul they rapidly entered the higher levels of the Imperial court often serving as advisers, generals and regents. Formerly vassals of the Clan Tokehiko they went on to gain many of their former lands, leading to conflict between the two which would have disasterous results for the Gao-Showa. Since the collapse of the Gao-Showa Empire they have remained as one of the dominant Gao-Showa clans, currently second only in power to the clan Meiji. The Leader of the Tokugawa is styled Koshak or Duke.
