The sleeper pod was one of the earliest known spaceships capable of interstellar flight. Constructed on Alderaan even before the establishment of the Old Republic, ships of this type were equipped with basic chemical drives, were probably only capable of sublight speeds, and had equipment to maintain their passengers in cryogenic hibernation.
