The opening of the Snowcap was profiled on the British news in 1986, during which General Cutler was interviewed. (PROSE: Mondas Passing) The base was originally commanded by Cutler and operated under International Space Command. Besides its primary function of mission control, it contained an arsenal of cobra missiles and launch facilities for Demeter rockets, each capable of carrying a Z-Bomb. It was supported partially by a relay station in Hawaii. In December 1986, the base was attacked by the Cybermen. Although the Cybermen were ultimately thwarted by the First Doctor, the ordeal resulted in his regeneration into his second incarnation. (TV: The Tenth Planet)
