The Nod Engineering Corps was a division within the Brotherhood of Nod that was responsible for construction and upgrading of Nod vehicles. In the aftermath of the Third Tiberium War, the corps was given the task of improving upon the Avatar walkers. Their efforts led to the development of a Mark. II generation of such warmechs.
