The lizards had dark gray skin to blend in with rock. Cold-blooded, they stayed in lower levels or halfway down tunnels to magma, where they could geothermally maintain a comfortable body temperature. They also fed primarily on the magma's bacteria and deep-growing fungi. The slow but hardy wohklukkadri ikarkohs often competed with them for food. They had large, black irises and pupils, but could stand brighter light than most cave creatures due to their lifestyle. Exotic pet owners discovered they could live in various homes and feed on fungi and pellets.
